All day long we bore witness to the formation of countless thunderstorms off about 10 miles to the East and moving eastward. Fortunate we were not caught under those torrential rains as they persisted for another day of flooding wherever the rains fell.

Living up a little higher on a hill has it's advantages.. but we too have seen some epic rain accumulation. Definitely need a break from the rain for a few days so the ground may dry up a bit.

As I was filming one of these beautiful updrafts billow about, the rain began to come down right over top of Indigo and I.. light at first but large droplets fell very quickly thereafter and was fortunate enough to have not gotten any water damage. Who doesn't like a little chaos?

Indigo enjoys a light rain it seems. Too heavy though and she will stay inside. But she has grown some way about the birdcam.. even taking it out of the case indoors to get to the memory chip.. she begins pacing around in a circle and wincing at me.. like as if to say, "Oh yeah! Let's go play!'

Everyone looks very nice to look at the blue sky. How to open the sky so that the mind is good. Well, that we see the blue sky, we talk about the blue sky - what have you ever thought, why the sky is blue? Why is not any other color

Yes actually, I know exactly why it is blue and not any other color. It is in fact due to a process called Rayleigh Scattering, wherein the visible wavelengths with higher energies, I.e., the shorter wavelengths are scattered more readily by the molecules of air in the atmosphere... visible light wavelength of purple is scattered way up in the upper atmosphere so no purple enters the retina of humans.. but blue light wavelengths is just right so as to scatter alll about in the atmosphere by the molecules of air, and enter our retina as blue and not white.

Same concept as to why Sunsets appear red and orange. More atmosphere for the light to travel thru means longer wavelengths can eventually be scattered by the air molecules and enter our retinas.
