Today was All Elite Wrestling's "Double or Nothing" rally that was held in Jacksonville, FL. This recap will mark the first episode of what I am dubbing the Steem Pro Wrestling Initiative, or #spwi for shirt. Look out for future episodes, and feel free to contribute your ideas for pro wrestling on Steem by using the #spwi tag. Also, be sure to show @beingtheelite some support by sending some Steem or SBD to the account. All contributions will be powered up! The more Steem Power we raise in that account, the more valuable it will make it to AEW and The Elite, who I want to present the account to, FREE of charge, and have the down votes and ban removed by the powers that be. For now, I will refrain from posting under the @beingtheelite account to avoid further flagging.
Note: I am not the content creator of this video, and I do not own the content. I am providing a recap and discussing the rally in the video.
The event, was free and open to the public, and took place outside TIAA Bank Field in Parking Lot, home of the Jacksonville Jaguars.
The YouTube video streamed live and is currently at over 124,000 views.
The event was hosted by Conrad Thompson, who co-hosts popular wrestling podcasts with wrestling stars, such as:
83 Weeks - Eric Bischoff
What Happened When - Tony Schiavone
Something to Wrestle With - Bruce Prichard
If you haven't checked out these podcasts, please do. Steem would be a great platform for Conrad Thompson and these wrestling greats to share their pro wrestling content!
Conrad Thompson's co-host was Alex Marvez from Sirius XM Radio NFL and senior NFL writer at FoxSports.com
SCU warmed up the crowd, and declared that Jacksonville was NOT the worst town ever. SCU us a wrestling stable made up of Scorpio Sky, Christopher Daniels and Frankie Kazarian. SCU make popular appearances on the @beingtheelite YouTube show. They announced that SCU is officially part of #aew.
The stars of @beingtheelite The Elite were on stage today. Cody Rhodes, The Young Bucks, and Adam "Hangman" Page all make appearances.
Cody led the pack by taking the stage first, looking sharp as ever in his suit. "Thank you Cody!" chants begin.
Cody makes announcements regarding the level of pay that #aew wrestlers will earn. He also hints that wins and losses will play a major role in the booking of #aew.
The Young Bucks join the stage. Their intro music is badass. "All elite" and "Thank you Young Bucks" chants begin. They discuss the association with the Khan family and "changing the world" by creating #aew.
The Young Bucks announce that they will do cross promotion with OWE Wrestling out of China. This will include The Good Hearts. I'm assuming that is a stable. They also announce that "Double or Nothing will take place on May 25, 2019, at the MGM Grand Garden Arena, in Las Vegas, NV. This is huge! Such a quick start to the promotion.
Brandi Rhodes takes the stage. She makes light of her new role as the Chief Branding Officer. She makes a joke about being the "Chief Brandi Officer" and also asks @prowrestlingtees if that would be a possible t-shirt slogan. Be sure to check out @prowrestlingtees here on Steem, and hit them up on their mainstream social media accounts so that they can claim the account for FREE here on Steem! They would have a great audience to do business here on the Steem network.
Brandi makes the announcement that there will be a women's division in #aew and that they will be pushed and payed equally to the men.
Brandi introduces Dr. Britt Baker, who is the first female wrestler signed to #aew and who also graduated today with her DMD in dentistry. Congrats Dr. Brittany! She will be at "Double or Nothing" in May.
Conrad is interrupted by the heelish pro wrestling star, Maxwell Jacob Friedman, who can be seen currently wrestling for @mlwwrestling. He slaps some gum on the forehead of Conrad and rushes him off the stage. He works the crowd over, berating them until he is interrupted by the Jacksonville Jaguars giant jaguar. As he is distracted, MJF is attacked from behind by Joey Janela. After introducing Penelope Ford, he claims to be a "bad, bad, boy" and claims that they are "all elite!"
Adam "Hangman" Page then takes the stage. He cuts a promo on the crowd and claims that it's his favorite first day on any job he's ever had. He points out he doesn't have a corporate overlord, or writers telling him what to say. He said the fans are his boss, and that he will work hard to make #aew a success as their first champion. He's interrupted by PAC, better known as Neville in WWE. This looks to set up a possible #aew championship match, most likely at "Double or Nothing" in May.
Cody and The Young Bucks return to the stage. Since they scooped the announcement a little early in their first segment, they decide to announce their second show, right there in Jacksonville, FL. The home town cheers, and some actually booed haha. They laugh and discuss the boos. A large portion of the gate will benefit gun violence.
Conrad urges the audience to tell their friends about #aew and let them know that "wrestling is cool again."
Some badass music then hits. To the stage is...... none other than.... the always cool Chris Jericho! "Jericho!" chants ensue. It's official. He is now all in with #aew. Surprise! Jericho works the crowd. He's not there for the money, he's there to do something different, and something new. He announces that he will be at "Double or Nothing" in May. He claims that they aren't going to just change the world, but change the whole universe.
Chris works the crowd with some posing as fireworks begin. Conrad wraps up the rally. SCU crashes the wrapup to let the crowd know there is a meet and greet.
I hope you have enjoyed the recap!
