Afghanistan’s Bamyan has been entitled as “Cultural Capital” of South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation, SAARC, countries by this organization in 2015.
This central province of the country has many historical monuments and Buddhas are two well-knowned of them. These sculptures have 35 meters and 53 meters height and were made between fifth to seventh centuries.
There are thousands of caves which have been excavated around Buddhas and in some other places of the province where Buddhists had been live, learned and prayed. These places have its own historical and artistic value.
Shahr-e Gholghola is another historical place in Bamyan. Construction of this city, which was destroyed by Gengis Khan in 13th century, dates back to 6th century. Gengis destroyed this beautiful city because his grandson had been killed in the city.
