Two Iconic Anti-War Veterans Launch Podcast Encouraging Soldiers to Rebel

With no end in sight for America’s longest wars—and growing threats of new, major wars under the unpredictable Trump Administration—two of the most well-known anti-war veterans in US politics, Spenser Rapone and Mike Prysner, are launching a podcast for US troops with a message: “fight the rich, not their wars.”

Army Ranger, Afghanistan veteran and 2nd Lieutenant Spenser Rapone, famously known as the “Commie Cadet,” just resigned his commission from the military. He faced repression from his command—and politicians such as Sen. Marco Rubio—for his viral tweets in support of Colin Kaepernick revealing a Che Guevara t-shirt in his West Point uniform. Rapone refused to back down, sending a message of rebellion to all US troops.

Iraq war veteran and former Army Corporal Mike Prysner is known several viral speeches against the wars, most notably his testimony at the 2008 Winter Soldier hearings. He has spent the last decade organizing active-duty troops and veterans against the wars—including an outreach campaign on US military bases providing soldiers with resources to refuse deployment orders to Afghanistan.

Their regular podcast, titled Eyes Left, will cover a variety of topics from Afghanistan and other war updates, to the crisis in the VA, to “Radical Military History” covering the rich tradition of military mutinies and rebellions. Giving a left-wing perspective on military news, they are clear in their goal: telling US troops they can, and should, say “no” to US foreign policy.
