Hi Everyone,
Here is a roundup of all the Fantasy relevant injuries after Round 4.
Adelaide:
Eddie Betts tough year continued with a hamstring injury on the weekend. It is only a light strain and only expected to sideline him for 2 weeks.
Matt Crouch is also still 1-2 weeks away with his hamstring injury while brother Brad is still listed as 5-6 weeks off with that groin injury.
Mackay will face a concussion test this week and is also in danger of missing.
No news on Rory Sloane who looks to be carrying some sort of foot injury. He has not been placed on the injury list so it seems he will keep playing through the paid.
Don't be surprised if he is a shock out when teams are announced tomorrow.
Brisbane:
The Lions have had a tough start to the season and are 0-4.
They are at least getting a pretty good run with injury as Daniel Rich is the only player of note still out.
He is listed as a test for this week but is expected to miss 1 more match with that ankle strain.
Carlton:
The Blues had some big injury news over the weekend with Marc Murphy suffering an unfortunate foot injury in the warm up and being a late withdraw.
Scans have showed he will miss up to 4 weeks in a blow for the Blues and some Fantasy Coaches.
Marchbank is also still out with an ankle strain and expected to miss 3 more weeks.
Collingwood:
The Pies had a terrific win over the weekend despite the loss of ball magnet Taylor Adams during the week. He is still 1-2 weeks away with a slight hamstring strain so won't play in the big Anzac Day match.
The important Jamie Elliott is also 1-2 weeks away with a hamstring strain. Josh Smith, Greenwood and Darcy Moore are also still 1-2 weeks off returning to the field.
Essendon:
The Bombers have a few on the injury list but none are popular fantasy choices and barring Mckenna are not a fixture in the Bombers best 22.
Mckenna of course is still out suspended for that biting charge and won't return until Round 7.
Fremantle:
The Dockers had some good news during the week with Harley Bennell stepping up his training and not too far away from yet another WAFL comeback.
Brad Hill is again listed as out for 1 week so that knee is troubling him more than first thought by the looks of it.
Geelong:
The Cats have Ablett listed as 2-5 weeks off with that hamstring.
You don't see 2-5 listed very often so the Cats are really hedging their bets on this one.
Expect the length to be a lot closer to 5 than 2 as the Cats will no doubt take a very cautious view to his treatment given the injury troubles he has had over recent seasons.
The Cats have a lot of players on the injury list but most of the others are all fringe types.
The other 2 of note would be Guthrie who is listed as 6-8 weeks off with an ankle injury and Harry Taylor who is listed as indefinite with a foot injury.
Gold Coast:
The Suns have been ravaged by injury the last 2 years and they are not having much luck again this year.
Back up but also highly talented Ruckman Nicholls has just undergone shoulder surgery and will be out for up to 16 weeks.
That's pretty much a season ender for him.
Hanley also dislocated his shoulder again the other week and whilst is listed as out for 12 weeks, I would not be
surprised if we don't see him again this season.
Lemmens is still listed as 3-4 weeks away with that broken hand but in better news Ainsworth and Wright are chances to play this weekend in the Q Clash.
GWS:
The Giants are also having their share of injury misfortune this season.
Josh Kelly is the big one and he is out for another week with that groin injury.
Lobb is listed as a test after that knock to his knee that kept him out last weekend.
Scully is listed as 8-10 weeks off returning after that nasty ankle injury.
Hawthorn:
Shaun Burgoyne is edging closer to resuming and is expected to miss just the 1 more match with that hamstring strain.
Ceglar is a chance to finally resume in the VFL this week after missing a massive 20 months of footy with an ACL and further complications.
The Hawks also had rotten luck last weekend with injuries to their 2 valuable small forwards Puopolo and Cyril Rioli.
Both injuries are nasty and expected to keep them out for 5-6 weeks.
Melbourne:
The Dee's will be desperate to regain Viney to give their midfield a much needed boost in the tough department.
He is apparently making good progress in his rehab for that foot injury and is expected to return in 3-4 weeks.
Tom Mcdonald is edging closer from his foot injury as well and is listed as 2-3 weeks away.
In another blow for the Dee's, Lewis hurt his hand on the weekend and is expected to miss a couple of weeks.
He is tough though so it will probably only end up being the one week.
Dom Tyson will return to the team this week and important Defender Jetta is listed as a test after needing treatment on an Ankle injury in last weekends loss to the Hawks.
North Melbourne:
No real Fantasy relevant injuries at North although Mcdonald is listed a test with hamstring soreness.
Port Adelaide:
The under performing Tom Rockliffe is in doubt this week with a slight calf strain.
His form has been so bad this season that he is in danger of being dropped so maybe a week off might do him some good.
Marshall is a test for concussion and Ryder is still 2-3 weeks away with that Achilles injury.
Richmond:
The reigning premier is having a dream run with injuries this season and only have 1 player listed as injured.
Rioli is still indefinite with that foot injury.
They did however lose Graham to suspension for a week.
St Kilda:
2018 is fast going pear shaped for the poor old Saints.
They are hopelessly out of form and having a torrid run with injuries.
The latest casualty is Roberton who in a scary incident collapsed behind the play last weekend and was rushed to
hospital.
The cause was a irregular heartbeat and he will be out indefinitely.
Bruce is still out for 6-8 weeks with a back injury and in another blow, Koby Stevens is now out indefinitely with lingering concussion issues.
These can be career ending so fingers crossed Stevens can get on top of it.
In better news the Saints could regain Webster and Membrey this week for their clash with GWS at Etihad Stadium.
Both are listed as tests and expected to be named.
Sydney:
The Swans are another team with a hefty injury list but not a lot of Fantasy relevance as mostly all fringe players.
The worst ones are Naismith who is out for the year with an ACL and Sam Reid will miss 8-10 weeks with that bad quad tear.
West Coast:
The Eagles are starting to get a big injury list as well and they will be sweating on the fitness of Shuey who hurt his toe on the weekend.
Shuey is listed as a test for this week as is Redden who has a similar toe injury.
For the 2nd week in a row, the Eagles lost a promising young player to a serious ankle injury.
Venables like Ryan last week will now miss the next 10-12 weeks.
Western Bulldogs:
The Bulldogs long injury list does will not be resolved anytime soon.
Libber is of course gone for the year with that ACL injury.
Important Defender Adams is still 5-6 weeks away from returning from that Ankle injury.
New recruit Crozier is still 2-3 weeks off with a knee injury.
Picken is still indefinite with that nasty concussion and is doubtful to return this season.
In better news the Dogs other new recruit Trengrove should be right to return this week.
That wraps up the rather long injury report for another week.
I hope the Dream Team gods have been good to your team and they are keeping healthy.
If not remember to get that team fixed before Friday lockout.
Thanks for reading and be sure to check back in tonight for Thursday teams update.
The concerning thing about the Roberton incident, is that it isn't even the first example of that this year. Collingwood's Kayle Kirby suffered the same thing in a VFL match a couple of weeks ago.
