Ancient Benin Fact

The kingdom of Benin was a pre-colonial kingdom. Located in southern Nigerian.
It's capital was edo, which is now known as Benin city in Edo state.

In 1897, the British military stole thousands of ancient artifacts from the kingdom of Benin, during an invasion of Benin by British soldiers.

In 2014, a British pensioner returned two status that his grandfather has stolen. This action prompted for the call for other treasures to be returned.
