Ghana wants 1% of dollar reserves in btc so just imagine when they find out about altcoins! We will see Steem as a possible choice for this possible basket of altcoins !
https://citifmonline.com/2018/01/03/bog-should-invest-1-of-dollar-reserve-into-bitcoin-chiefy-nduom/
I would like to show this to @mcsamm @tj4real @richforevr @kwakumax and others in Ghana who can benefit from the knowledge of this news. Can you imagine if Steem was also chosen as part of a basket of digital crypto currencies that Ghana's government could invest in? Imagine allowing every citizen of Ghana to own just 1 Steem token, when that was $1 you could do it for just a few million dollars but now it will become more expensive, but as we can see, with steem getting up to around 250 million + Tokens, there are enough for states to even begin saving steem for their citizens as an advanced pension plan that would allow the pension to grow and grow with maybe payments being made by the use of a posting key to make upvotes, to allow payment by upvote! This is similar to an idea @contentjunkie and i were having on steemspeak.com discord chat today, Upvote Layaway where i could pay for a product or service (in this case to pay a developer for a soundboard of every character in steemspeak chat heh ) and @contentjunkie asked if I wanted to just pay over a period of time for the work via my upvotes on posts that cn be made as short updates o fthe work itself, allowing them to get their guaranteed upvote payment from me, but also to get possible other upvotes on top of that!
Here is a list of Steem HYPE talking points by @reko that was shown to me on steemspeak.com chat by @elgeko
So upvote layaway is a funny concept and I wanted to pay for a developer to give me a soundboard for every character in here lol, i was talking about upvote layaway to describe possibilities when national governments start buying steempower and allowing citizens to get paid via upvotes on their posts (maybe community service related posts they can reward) instead of a set social security check the government pays a small amount or steempower (instead of fiat in some bank) and over time that investment grows ad instead of every selling it they just make money off curation and use it to upvote the citizens who would normally just get a paycheck from the initial principle, now we keep the principle paid for by the taxes, and use the money to upvote the citziens who paid into the pension program. If they buy steem for the long-term there so point in NOT powering up to reap curation rewards and possible post rewards as I'm sure posts by official Ghana government would be welcomed here and would get on the trending page!
And oh Talented Visual Artist @elgeko, who finds all sorts of great art and makes some himself, posted this brand new GIF made by another talented steemian @overkillcoin . This GIF was made to show the network speeds of STEEM and it is STUNNING almost SHOCKING to see things in perspective just how mucgh faster and better Steem is than Bitcoin, ethereum or other alts. It is also very funny and even sad (for the other coins) to see JUST how fast steem really is compared to other much slower crypto currencies which have much larger marketcaps.
So it is very logical that steem will become the most widely used cryptocurrency since it can actually handle the demand while Bitcoin Ethereum and others just cannot! And they should admit it! Steem is superior technologically and thus it should become superior in marketcap s all the smart money and smart companies invest. (And maybe they can get a good price to have a Smart media Token! :D )
And this recent surge in Steem activity sending our blockchain to almost 2 billion dollar marketcap level seems to be just the beginning of a massive investment surge into steem that makes me wish I had invested even more into it while I had the chance to get $1 Steem!
Speaking of 1 steem I just sold about 0.7 SBD for 1 Steem and powered it up...
And now that steem is nearly $7 to $8 each I feel the act of powering up 1 steem a day into steempower is a nice little ritual and just imagine if we all started doing it with some of our SBDs we are rewarded!
And here is my $21,000+ Steemit Account visible here at http://steemit.com/@ackza/transfers :D :D :D I love steem!
Thanks to everyone like @matt-a and @elgeko and @fyrtsikken @thejohalfiles and @inertia and @whatsup @steemitqa and all the steemspeak.com crew! All the OG whales who made this all possible thank you so much, I really owe you all some future upvotes ;)
Misleading title but Ghana does have a very interesting but little known history when it comes to currency and it's a great example of why Bitcoin is great.
Basically, in 1982 Ghana demonetized their 50 cedi banknotes in basically an attempt to curb inflation and stop what they considered black markets and it caused their currency to crash.
Google ghana cedi demonetization to learn more :)

Ghana is now seeing the light in cryptocurrencies as there was a summit on blockchain a few weeks back; sad enough i missed.
But this news clearly shows Cryptocurrencies would be going mainstream soon enough and I'm very glad. I buy cryptocurrencies from some shops in Ghana here and just recentl @tj4real shared a video of Bitcoin being accepted in one of the regions in Ghana;Kumasi.. Thanks for sharing this info with the steemit community as it gives we Ghanaians some exposure. Bless up!! @ackza

That is what a responsive, sharp government should be doing rather than create draconian laws that outlaw the use of bitcoin. Kudos to Ghana government, waiting for my country to follow suit.
