Hello Steemians,

To follow up on my last post, I wanted to share a painting from another Congolese painter called ijunior (Junior ILUNGA):"Ba Shegués".

Shegués are the street kids you can meet in big cities like Kinshasa (DRC). As the result of difficult family situations and the overall economic hardship, some of these kids are kicked out by their family, for being socalled "Tshors"(witches). Some chose to run away rather than enduring their situation.

Against all odds, Shégués manage to survive, sometimes from a very young age, in those mean streets. They feed themselves, educate themselves, do things that most teenagers still rely on their parents for. Although they're in competition with each others for scarce resources, they have created a defacto community with their own codes and hustle techniques. All in all, still a time bomb...
