Commercial agriculture can survive within pluralistic Nigeria society, as we know it - if the farm is rebuilt on some of the values with which it is popularly associated: conservation, independence, self-reliance, family, and community. To sustain itself, commercial agriculture will have to reorganize its social and economic structure as well as its technological base and production methods in a way that reinforces these values.
Looking into our nation's economy, Nigeria to be precise, our economy is going down because everybody is looking into the oil sector and be abandoning other sectors like agriculture in particular. We should have a rethink that agriculture is a panacea for posterity sake.
After my national youth service program, I couldn't see a white collar job, as an agricultural Economist, I started plantain plantation, today it's going higher with respect to the little aid the Federal government of Nigeria is doing to the youths with the NPower program and Agriculture is the way forward for sustainable development.
