There is nothing like charity. Charity, they say, begins at home and comes from the bottom of the heart. After living a blessed life of 99 years, Lillian Weber is still touching minds and hearts across the world.

In principle, if somebody reaches 90 years, we perceive that the person cannot do anything at all. What is left for the person, is to be cared for as he/she awaits the final journey to the world beyond our comprehension. But Lillian Weber, despite reaching 99 years of age, decided to make a hobby out of doing something to help the under-privileged children in Africa.

Weber has been sewing dresses for a charity organization called “Little Dresses for Africa” that also helps build schools and dig wells for drinking water in third world countries.

This generous initiative has caught the attention of the media. Weber said that when she started her project of making the dresses, she was hoping to sew 1,000 dresses by her 100th birthday. But not only is she set to meet her goal, she might finish ahead of schedule.

“Nine times out of ten, they always say old people don’t do anything. But they do. And as soon as I get this one done, I’ll probably go to the next one,” she reporters in an interview.

Little Dresses for Africa describes Weber as an industrious and amazing person, adding that it shares her vision is to help the less privileged in the world.

"Little Dresses for Africa was founded by Rachel O’Neill in 2008 and is a registered non-profit 501c3 Christian organization. Our mission is to provide relief to children throughout the Continent of Africa and beyond. Volunteers from all 50 US States, as well as Australia, Canada, the UK, and Singapore, join together to make little dresses out of pillow cases or other simple patterns. Some sew. Some donate", the charity organization says.

It also urged other individuals and philanthropists to come on board, joining the charity’s initiative of making the world a better place for the less privileged people; Weber says,"some of our dresses go to Africa, and some send others. Little Dresses for Africa makes all the arrangements, through missions teams, mailing directly to verified communities and we take them ourselves with a team at least once a year. With your help, we get the dresses (and britches for boys!) to the children, and distribute them through orphanages, churches, and schools. Together, we can make a difference".

The Charity organization currently depends on Weber to attract donations to its website. It wrote ‘‘Lillian Weber Lillian is our “sewing celebrity” who will turn 100 in May. Lillian is very close to reaching her goal of 1000 dresses by the time she turns 100! We have created a Lillian shipping fund to help get dresses to the children. 100% of the donations in the Lillian Weber Fund will go to shipping little dresses to Africa’’.
