American Dream = African Nightmare

All throughout your life, you may have had people trying to sell you the American Dream. They say that if you work really hard in school, and get a good, "stable" paying job with "benefits" that you'll be alright.

That couldn't be further from the truth.

I think that it's way too easy to get caught up in the illusion of the rat race. Let me explain.

People like to work hard on the wrong things. We study a bunch of shit in school that's totally irrelevant to our lives. We're told, "Work hard on your schoolwork, and be quiet."

Then, we leave school to enter the "workforce". We're told, "You will clock in at x time and no earlier, you will leave at x time and no earlier, you have 30 minutes for lunch, wear you name tag on the right side of your shirt, not your left, and if you don't do exactly what I say to do, how I say to do it, you're fired! Ask for a pay raise, and they'll "get back to you on that."

The American dream is an African nightmare. And we've got to wake up, or we'll die in our sleep.

If you are lucky, lol. Depends on where you live, if your relatives have connections and they are willing to help you. The best thing to do, is to become the most social person you can. Surrround yourself with the right people. And never stop learning new stuff, from which you can make a living, or things might get ruff pretty quick.
It is true school doesn't help youto find a good job, it is only there to employ the teachers. And their job is to form you, so you become like them. But hey, at least you are awake now, right? :)
