The Art of Planning: Long-Term Projection

The Wailing Souls created one of my favorite songs, called, "Jah Jah Give Us Life To Live."

The song had a lyric in it that said, 

"Too much injustice is upon the land. Yet, the Rastaman, he makes no plan."

Planning is something that I hated doing when I was younger. I always liked to just execute and do a lot of things, that may not have gotten me anywhere. It was like I was spinning my tires. 

Recently, I've been craving books that feed me important financial information that I need to survive. Even when I'm reading these books, I like to use Google Calendar to plan out when I'm going to read a chapter throughout the week. Then I look at my next payday on the calendar, plan out what book I'm going to buy on that day, and how much the book will cost. 

Even with these articles, I go on Google Calendar and plan out when I'm going to write an article. 

It may seem like something menial and unimportant, but something that I've come to learn recently is that planning is the most important phase of the production process, whether it's producing better health, better finance choices, or producing wealth by investing. 

It's insane how much more productive you can be by using a calendar to think things though and project every move long-term so that you're actions aren't shallow and short-sighted. 

Every single day, take an hour or more out of your day, find a quiet place, open up Google Calendar, and just think. Think about what you really want to accomplish, and think about a clear start and end date for the goal.

Putting the goals into Google Calendar helps you remember them, and it lets you edit the goals easily in an electronic format, as opposed to using a paper calendar.

Try it for a month, you'll be glad you did.
