Peaceful greetings to Zimbabwe // election results - ZANU-PF wins again

in africa •  6 years ago  (edited)

Mugabe's former ally Emmerson Mnangagwa has retained the presidency, beating the main opposition party MDC's Nelson Chamisa:

Mnangagwa won 50.8% of the vote, ahead of Nelson Chamisa of the opposition MDC party on 44.3%, the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission said, declaring Mnangagwa as the winner. AFP

This comes amidst violent protests and repression by the army in Zimbabwe, the MDC's argument that the election was not fair and after a strange twist where former president Mugabe announced his support for Chamisa on the eve of the election.

To put it simply,

The USA's sanctioned candidate has lost.

The elected president has US-enforced sanctions against him.

Whatever happens next, we hope and pray that Zimbabweans will work peacefully, being cautious of outside destabalizing forces and in unity with all Africans to achieve greater independence and prosperity.

And, when all else fails.. take your call fron the US hand shoved up your arse, and hijack the Election commission
