African Proverb: Every open eye is not seeing and every closed eye is not sleeping.
Meaning: People (things) are not always as they appear to be. The fact that someone doesn't talk about something, doesn't mean they are not aware of what you're doing to them. The fact that a person is not open about something, does not mean they are not doing anything about it. For all you know, a closed eye could mean the person is praying or perhaps that eye is dysfunctional. It also means a closed door is not necessarily a closed opportunity. The second part means , the fact that someone is looking doesn't mean they are seeing. The eyes you think are critically observing things may only be casually looking at things.
