Good day my fellow steemians, I'm proud to be an African so I'll be sharing an article with you on the unique triumphs of Africans in the Guinness world Records. There's never a dull moment in Africa.
1] The oldest person to enroll into a primary school
Kimani Ng’ang’a Maruge who hails from Kenya holds this record when he enrolled into Standard One at Kapkenduiyo Primary School, Eldoret, in January 2004 at the age of 84. This is one hell of a record.
2] The most children fathered
Moulay Ismail ibn Sharif, which is the Last Sharifian Emperor of Morocco, also known as The Bloodthirsty currently holds this stunning record to have successfully fathered a total of 867 children, 525 sons and 342 daughters – between 1672 and 1727.
Amazingly, the second place for this record is also held by an African, King Sobhuza II of Swaziland, who lived from 1899 to 1982 and also fathered 210 children from 70 wives.
3] World's deadliest lake.
Lake Nyos in Cameroon holds this scary record. This lake has claimed over 2000 lives due to the release of toxic gases in the recent decades. In August 1986, in just one night between 1600 & 1800 people were killed as a result of large release of carbon dioxide.
4] The Most aggressive butterfly
The Green-veined Emperor butterfly (Charaxes candiope) found in Uganda holds this amazing record. This butterfly descend bombs into people and animals that intrudes it's territory.
5] The shortest war
This is quite hilarious, should this be called a war or a fight? Lol.
It's The Anglo-Zanzibar war that took place in August 1896, it lasted for only 38 minutes. Around 500 Zanzibari men and women died and some where wounded during this attack by the British and most of the death were from the fire that overflowed the palace. Just one British sailor was reported injured.
6] The Loudest insect
This is really awesome
The African Cicada (Brevisana brevis) releases an average sound level of 120 decibels which is equivalent to the sound of a jet engine, rock concert or a thunderclap. Africa is really blessed.
7] The Most vuvuzelas playing simultaneously
On the 23rd of july 2009, Just before a derby match between Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs, this stunning record for the Most vuvuzelas played simultaneously was achieved by 12,511 eyewitnesses at the Vodacom Challenge football match at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in Port Elizabeth, South Africa.
8] The Most official languages
South Africa is the country with the most formal languages, with 11 and they are: English, Afrikaans, isiZulu, isiXhosa, Sesotho, Setswana, Sepedi, Xitsonga, siSwati, isiNdebele and Tshivenda.
9] The Most people brushing their teeth concurrently (from different venues)
This record was previously set in India but a new record was set in Nigeria (my country) in 2013. Over 300 000 students from 600 popular secondary School in lagos, Nigeria brushed their teeth simultaneously for 0ne minute at 376 different locations. Finally my country was listed.
10] The Largest meteorite
The largest meteorite is a block found in Hoba West, near Grootfontein in Namibia in 1920. This block is 2.7m long and 2.4m wide, also estimated to weigh 59 tonnes and is said to be the largest meteorite.
11] The Most bee stings removed
Johannes Relleke was the victim of this incident that turned out to be a world record. It's said to be a record because he actually survived it. He was stung at the Kamativi tin mine, in the Wankie District of Zimbabwe (then Rhodesia) on January 28 1962. All the stings were removed from him and were counted.
12] The Largest gathering of pregnant women
On May 17 2007, this amazing world record was achieved by 1164 members at the Your Baby show at the Coca Cola Dome in Johannesburg, South Africa.
13] The biggest game of pick up sticks
On July 21 2007, pupils of St. Johns Preparatory School in Zimbabwe played the biggest game of pick up sticks which was measuring about 9.10m long and 14.5cm in diameter. Four (4) teams of 112 kids each played the full game. It consisted of 30 plastic sticks (seven yellow, seven red, seven blue, eight green and one black).
14] The Largest mud brick building
The world’s largest mud brick building is The Great Mosque of Djenné (with surface area of about 5625 square metres) in Mali. It was first built in the 13th century and the current building dates from 1907.

I had always seen the Mosque in civilization games and wondered where it was from but never bothered to search. Thats pretty cool to be honest. And oh god I thought the cicaras over where I live were bad, the 6th one sounds horrifying.
