I don't know much about America's penal system. But it seems to me that if we simply lock people up for X number of years as punishment for their crimes, we shouldn't be surprised to discover that prison life has NOT turned them into model citizens.
I'd like to know more about Randolph Aguirre. Why, after serving three years and eight months in a state prison and then being free again for only seven weeks, did he fatally stab a man? Yes, a Rolex watch is worth a lot, but so is freedom.
Aguirre has lost that again. And now his daughter has lost her freedom too.
It really depends on the state. In Idaho, rehab seems to be ahead of pure punishement
