Artificial Intelligence is Coming

Artificial intelligence is coming. I think in my lifetime, computers will become conscious in the same ways we are. Machines can already store much more data than any human could hope to, however they cannot yet design their own hardware. In a way, we as humans can design our software by learning new things, but we cannot design our hardware. Imagine if we could connect our brains to the internet. I believe the day will come, in my lifetime, in which computers will be able to design their own hardware and continually make themselves better.

I think this technology will help the world in that it will be able to solve almost any problem. Given the vast amount of information online, artificial intelligence will be able to analyze such data and come up with solutions far faster than any group of humans ever could. This is because, I predict, artificial intelligence will be able to redesign its hardware and software, and do so inconceivable fast. I believe they will be able to make hundreds of years of progress in a matter of days.

I don’t have any ideas in terms of improving current artificial intelligence, however I think that developing such technologies should be done so with caution. Do we want computers infinitely more intelligent than ourselves? What if their goals become misaligned with ours? I think that the development of general artificial intelligence should be done with extreme caution. Being careful not to let it get into the wrong hands as well.
