“We might be a generation away from new drivers who never learn to parallel park at all.”
Strange that even in an article on the topic of rapid changes, they overestimate the time scale for AI advancement. I mean, “might”?!
In one generation we will have ubiquitous very advanced AI. We will probably have android robots who can drive a regular car! Twenty-five years from now will be a very different world.
Although the article mentions it, I think there is a lack of appreciation for how much already people don’t care about driving. People have been skipping learning parallel parking for years. So much so, that as the article points out, it is no longer on the California driver license test. I remember in New Jersey how much it was the key high pressure part of the test. At least they didn’t simulate people honking while you tried! 🤣
