Will man's best friend be replaced

As we head forward into the world of creating artificial life with artificial intelligence will the dog we grew up to know and love be one day replaced by a metallic canine version?

Its an interesting question to ask because as a society we are growing more and more used to using our digital devices in our daily lives. When you look at our daily routine as its evolving. We wake up to an alarm on our night stand. Then get up and check our email as we are using the rest room. Then walk over to our mirror which will not only show us our reflection but also give us news and weather via wi-fi connection on the side of our reflective screen. When we are done in the washroom we go and get dressed to do a quick workout as we ask our digital assistant to play some music or some more detail about an article we just read. As we are working out we are catching up on some reading or watching a YouTube flick.

After we finish our workout its off to the kitchen where our coffee is ready via our preprogrammed timer. And we head up something in the microwave which is quick and ready to eat in minutes. The dog comes in to eat something and spend sometime with us. But if its an AI/ Robotic one it could be a different scenario.

So lets look at it from a different perspective. We are sleeping and our AI dog sounds off an alarm which wakes us up. It keeps getting louder until we finally get up. Then as we go into the washroom it tells us our important emails and allows us to vocally respond to them and either send a voice mail or a VCR (Voice Character Recognition) converted to text back to the sender. As we walk over to the mirror our AI pooch follows along waiting for its next command.

We talk to the mirror and listen to the weather and news as our doggie reminds us to remember to bring a jacket and scarf since its going to be cold later on today. We then finish in the washroom and head into the bedroom to get dressed for our workout. Our dog asks us would we like to listen to something as we get dressed. We say sure and it picks something from our playlist and plays music throughout the house on the various little speakers. etc.

I'm just brining up a possible scenario that could end up easily happening since our lives are being more connected to our digital devices. For some people who love animals but don't want to deal with the mess or issues this could be a step in the right direction.
