Why AI won't kill us all

As AI starts to get smarter, most people can't stop to wonder if the future can turn into something that looks alot like the terminator, but I think otherwise.

Professors are always trying to make AI as humanoid as possible, so that means since humans normally like to avoid death AI will think the same since AI will think like humans. You maybe thinking, AI will get smarter and they will think we're stupid and useless causing AI to kill us but that means we should eradicate all animals with a lower IQ such as a dog using the same logic right? This can mean AI won't kill us all, they might keep us as a pet, like a dog, a lab rat, like a rat or a slave like some humans used to do (not as much anymore). This brings us to the end of my post, thank you.
