Project Summary:
Decentralized data platform
Targeted advertisement/Data marketplace
Users are incentivised to sell their data to the airbloc marketplace
via ABLGives users control of what data they would like to share
DAuth
Official agreement signed when user agrees to share data
Committed on chain
Layers
Application
Apps built with Airbloc SDK
Main App (Client)
Main Exchange (Client)
API
Service
- Ethereum network for token rewards via smart contract
Core
Ethereum for EVM smart contracts
Aero for data validation
Tokens
ABL
- ERC-20 used for staking and transacting
AIR
Pure reward token
Can be converted to ABL
Non transferrable token (ERC20?)
Used as a proof of contribution to the network
There is no alternative way of receiving AIR besides
obtaining them from rewards
Data structure
Identifier
Mandatory
Information about owner (name/email/uuid)
Trait
- Distribution limit (max number of sells)
Payload (Self explainatory)
Lineage
Distribution history
Only 2 ends of pipe can view the lineage
Data pipeline
Data source
- Usually the user with an Airbloc account
Data collector
An app registered on the Airbloc platform with ABL at
stakeCollected data is ingested (encrypted) and returned to
the collector for storage
Data refinery
Entities that try and make sense of the data
Drawing of relationships
Pros/Cons:
Pros:
Strong partners
- Ebay korea and Woowa Brothers touted
About half the tokens are being sold
Already has a working app on the app store that people download
for airdrops (Good Job!)
Cons:
The use of 2 chains (Ethereum and Aero) might further complicate
thingsHard cap seems moderate
Not really a big con but all data is actually collected first
before being filtered by the refineries. This seems to carry
some risk.KYC is required to share your data
General Thoughts:
Airbloc is not the first data marketplace project I have come across but
it does seem to boast a number of big partnerships even before the ICO.
The system looks well thought out in general but I personally feel that
AIR tokens are un-needed as rewards can be easily tracked on chain.
However AIR tokens do serve as an easy visualization on a participant.
The team's choice to use 2 chains to accomplish their task also looks
questionable to me as there exists chains and protocols out there that
satisfy their needs. I am also sceptical about the part where the data
is stored by the collector with the encryption key stored on chain. I
have raised that question to their chat group and await their response.
A number of points which I am interested in such as the refining of data
are not documented in the whitepaper/technical whitepaper. Counting on
that they are still on the pre sale phase of their ICO, I expect a
revised whitepaper to be ready before the public sale on 19th June 2018.
To wrap it all up, Airbloc looks to be a strong project with decent hype
during the pre sale phase; having just sold out their second public
pre-sale despite having slightly above 3500 members in their English
telegram group.
