An Introduction and Guide to Cryptocurrency Airdrops (Free Crypto)

Airdrops are crypto coin giveaways for various reasons. Blockchain startups (ICOs) mainly do this to promote their business models and distribute their tokens.

They are also used to test their blockchains and technology. Sometimes we are chosen for automatic airdrops if we hold the parent crypto of the blockchain that the ICO is based upon (such as ETH or BTC).

We can get in on these free offers for doing simple tasks once we find them.

Here are the steps I use when hunting airdrop coins:

1. Make some accounts: I like to have separate accounts for airdrops. The most common ones that are required are Twitter, Telegram, Facebook, Reddit, Bitcoin Talk and an email account.

2. Create a Bitcoin and Ethereum wallet. I always suggest people buy a hardware wallet for strong security. Hardware wallets keep private keys forever offline. For other airdrops, you might need EOS or other wallets too. Hardware wallets can hold multiple accounts in one place, so that's another reason to have one.

4. Go after the airdrops that look legit and interest you. Be aware of scams. Never give out personal financial info or private wallet keys. Be careful of the links you follow. Watch out for redirects.

5. Some airdrops also give you a bounty link to share. If you get others to sign up, you can earn more free crypto!

6. Make a plan to keep searching out new airdrops every day. There are always new offers and projects. You airdrop coins can grow quickly if you are consistent.

7. Find exchanges with low fees to trade between cryptos that you want (optional of course).
