He goes by Rajeev Hari Om Bhatia in full. He is better known in Bollywood as Khiladi Kumar. He did not originate from a film industry family or his family had no connection to the business. He was raised in Old Delhi, was born on September 9, 1967, and is from Amritsar.

He resided in the Koliwada neighbourhood of Mumbai and attended the Don Bosco School there. He attended Guru Nanak Khalsa College in Mumbai for his higher schooling. He then travelled to Bangkok to study martial arts. He earned a black belt in Taekwondo as well.

In Mumbai, he began taking martial arts lessons. Akshay learned about the modelling project from one of his students who was a photographer, and he participates in the modelling assignment. Since then, he has begun modelling and has also performed in movies as a background dancer.
