After going through the recent spate of comic book movies, I am now of the opinion that WATCHMEN never should have been made into a movie.
WATCHMEN is a rich tapestry. Ever time I read it, something new becomes apparent.
The movie cannot compare. It is like a single stitch design being compared to a 3-D rendering.
Most likely, this was one of the biggest things that pissed off Alan Moore.
Jeffrey Dean Morgan was fantastic! No fault with the casting.
My issue is with the changed ending.
For those whom have only seen the movie:
Ozymzndias kidnaps the only other superhuman in their world besides Dr. Manhattan, a fellow by the name of Robert Deschaines. He is beheaded, and his brain is cloned into a giant monster, created by kidnapped artists and designers. The monster is then teleported into Madison Square Garden, killing the KT-28 heads at the Pale Horse concert, thereby culling the druggies of their world, while simultaneously faking an alien invasion, which causes the nations to band together in the face of the "imminent threat".
Without adhering to the story, there's no reason for the Comedian to appear at Moloch's apartment. There's nothing to drive him to desperation.
Did some jackass actually think that they would be able to cash in on some shitty sequel where Nite Owl chases Jon around the world, and Dr. Manhattan is tricked by Silver Spectre hiding an improved intrinsic field generator in her vag?
Oh, wait...that was Before Watchmen.
