Åland is an archipelago and an autonomous province of Finland, laying between Stockholm and Turku.
My experience there is mostly cycling, as it is so easy to access from Helsinki by a ferry. Weekend trips with one way by train or bus to Turku and returning by the ferry from Marienhamm work perfectly. The smaler islands are well connected with smaller ferries. Further discoveries were sailing, what is no suprise to be of stunning beauty between those skerries. You can anyway get a glimpse of it when taking the ferry. Lately I discovered the islands as a climbing destination, offering a great variety of beautiful and very climbable bouldering locations.
Pictures attached are from cycling on those red roads on a summer evening a couple of years ago. That's how you know you're leaving proper Finland - when the colour of the roads change!
