Last weekend was spectacular. The wife, child, and I went fishing on the open water outside of Ressurection Bay via Seward, Alaska.
It was a cloudy day, but little little to no rain came down as we fished the day away. I already caught a chicken, small halibut, earlier in the afternoon when this fish latched on from 300ft below.
The next 20 minutes were a blur as I pulled this healthy fish to the surface. On the way up, the halibut managed to tangle all 4 of our lines together making for a real challenge cleaning up all our lines after bringing the fish aboard.
While we didn't have a scale on the fishing vessel, we estimated this halibut at around 60 pounds.
Needless to say, I now have a well stocked freezer. And at around 20 bucks a pound at the supermarket this fishing trip was well worth it.
