My Favorite Farmer's Markets in Albuquerque

Farmers Market, Fresh, Vegetable, Ripe, Various

Farmer's markets are a great way to shop for produce that is organic and local. It gives you an opportunity to support your community and many of the farmer's markets here in Albuquerque have winter hours. While there are almost 20 (yes 20!) farmers markets in the Albuquerque area, these two are my absolute favorites

Rail Yards Market

More than just a farmers market (although there is a huge emphasis on produce grown in the area), the Railyards market took Albuquerque's iconic abandoned rail yard, and turned the dilapidated but beautiful building into a space for showcasing New Mexican culture and food. While you are shopping for your local food, you may also hear a great band play or find a local artist to create you caricature. The Railyards Market aims to make healthy, locally grown food accessible to everyone, so they accept almost all forms of payment, including WIC, EBT, and senior's checks.

Corrales Growers' Market
While not technically in Albuquerque, but in the charming village of Corrales adjacent to the city, this market is great for several reasons. First being that while you are there you get to see and possibly explore this cute town that has more of a rural feel. It's a quite place close to the river, giving it a green quality not often seen in the city. It's not unusual to see residents on horseback. It's not hard to envision the hands you encounter at the Corrales Growers Market plucking the ripe fruits or kneading the fresh bread you are about to enjoy. The second great thing is that you don't have to forfeit selecting fresh, great locally produced foods just because it's winter; the Corrales farmer's market continues to operate year round.

I also love my weekly visit to my local farmers market, get all my fresh produce, check out the local musos playing there and take an hour or so to chill and enjoy the atmosphere . Biodynamic foods deliver more efficient nutrients to the body and energy.

Yes I agree
Farmers try hard to produce these foods but we mostly buy other food like fast food.
I think this food is fresh and healthy and we can support farmers also.
