"AlenThin stumbles upon" is a series of posts where I'm presenting you people who inspire me through their work or simply by their way of living, be it musicians, artists of any sort or just amazing human beings.
Legowelt - " Renegade of a New Age"
Danny Wolfers a.k.a. Legowelt (and some other aliases) is an electronic musician from Holland, pretty well known with an amazing background in the industry, so this is for those of you who haven't heard of him yet.
He started producing in the 90's and since then has gathered a beautiful collection of synthesizers, which he uses to design intriguing sounds, most of it ending up in his music.
On his Soundcloud and Bandcamp profile you can find and buy his music if you want to support him, whereas if you search for Legowelt on youtube, you'll be finding some of his older tracks, interviews and loads of live performances like this one bellow, that I really recommend listening to.
I personally see him as an avant-garde artist, with a funny yet delicious esthetic vision. You'll probably agree on that after visiting his website legowelt.org, entirely made by himself. It's where you'll find some more gems, as well as an incredible digital magazine called Cyberzine, in which he approaches various topics and fills it with amazing illustrations made using ASCII code.
As if that wasn't enough, he is also very generous, offering for free not only the Cyberzine, but an unique collection of samples made with some of his synths.
For those of you passionate about this topic, with an interest towards electronic music production, here you can find a video made by FACT-Magazine, where Legowelt creates a track showing the whole process from start to finish.
And for those passionate about old-school computers like Amiga 500 or Commodore 64, you'll be pleased to discover he's also a big fan, using them for music production and also for programming games like the one bellow, which you can download for free from his website and run it using an emulator.
I really hope these few words sparked up your interest enough to check him out and enjoy his work.
