I think that if outside earth life have visited us, we will be far from know. only because the fact that there is much noise around the evidence, and we are on a point were we cannot separate what is real from what its constructed.
Also I remember a comment from Stephen Hawking where he said that we may even not want to contact Alien forms of live since we dont know if for them we will be no more that whats ants are for us.
