Professor @AudryTruschke tweets this information and information from indianexpress.com suggests there is some truth in this statement:

Six injured students continue to be in hospital, while the right hand of one has had to be amputated at the wrist. Doctors fear two others may have to undergo amputation.

Meanwhile peaceful anti-CAA protests continue in various cities in India.
