Zuckerberg is interested in crypts

Mark Zuckerberg, founder of Facebook, said one of the aspects of his year's personal challenge would be to study crypto-testing and research how he can use them within Facebook.

Zuckerberg published a post in which he outlined his personal goals for 2018. His main goal is to solve problems within "Facebook". "We will not prevent all mistakes or abuses, but at the moment we make too many mistakes in enforcing our policies and preventing the abuse of our tools," wrote Zuckerberg. "If we manage to solve these problems this year, we will end 2018 on a much higher level," he added.

Zuckerberg presents two areas of technology that he wants to explore in 2018, which include encryption and cryptography. He said that both of these technologies lead to decentralized power, which Zuckerberg considers a positive change. He was not clear in his post about what Facebook will do with crypto-switches, for example if it will add bitcoin as a payment option, but it also shows that one of the most powerful companies in the world is following technology closely.

"Today, many people have lost faith in the promised decentralization. With the rise of a small number of large technology companies, and with governments that use technology to oversee their citizens, many have become convinced that technology only centralises power instead of decentralizing it. "There are important anti-trends, such as encryption and crypts, which take power from centralized systems and return them to human hands. But they come at a risk that it becomes more difficult to control it. I am interested in deepening the study of the positive and negative aspects of these two technologies and how to best use them in our services, "said Zuckerberg.

In December, it was announced that Facebook Messenger, David Marcus, would join the Coinbase Crypto Replacement Commission. Before joining Facebook in 2014, Marcus was President of PayPal. In his blog, Coinbase Executive Director Brian Armstrong said that "Marcus's experience will give Coinbase the breadth and depth and help the company, which seeks to become the most popular and safest place to buy and sell digital currencies." Marcus wrote that since 2012 he was fascinated by crypts, "I am witnessed that Coinbase began to democratize access to this new type of property. I am convinced that this is the potential for a material change in people's lives around the world. "
