아래 차트는 전체 피고용인 중에 서비스 관련 종사자들이 차지하는 분야와 생산직에 종사하는 사람들이 차지하는 분야를 비교해를 보면 서비스 분야는 한때 60% 그리고 생산직분야는 40% 차지하던 숫자가 서비스 분야는 86.2% 까지상승하고 생산직 분야는 13.7% 까지 하락했습니다. 미국의 직종이 생산직이 사라지고 서비스 분야가 차지하는 분야가 늘어났습니다. 하지만 이숫자가 금융위기 이후 지난 10년동안 변하지는 않고 있습니다.
