Chinese Wind Farming Firm in America Wants to Retrain Ex-Coal Miners to Be Wind Turbine Technicians.

This is what it's all about. Leaving old sources for more sustainable without losing all those jobs.

Opinion piece on this article.

Let's face it, one of the biggest hurdles facing the transition from fossil fuels to sustainable energy is losing thousands of middle class paying jobs. Retraining was always going to be the key but that would be more money into education and less for tax breaks for billionaires.

Who would have thought China comes to the rescue. As China continues to buy America one piece at a time it's only fitting they start training the American people how to work for them. It's a global village right? Globalization at it's finest, we get to work for anyone from anywhere that has the money to buy a significant part of an industry in any country.

Hey at least America is strong enough to ensure the workers in America are American. Many smaller countries where China has done the same thing has made deals to import their own workers thus taking jobs away from the locals.

There is a place in Wyoming America called Carbon County, yes that's its real name. It was one of USA's largest coal mines. With wind turbines popping all over the country and less reliance on coal many workers have been displaced, bitter to have lost their job and looking for something to blame.

I hope once everyone is making money again with sustainable energy their will bickering of over what causes a smoggy day.

This seems like a great opportunity for a changing workforce. The workforce goes through big changes every generation as technology and societies needs change.

That's a great inititive and good route to progress

problem is.
coal actually works
has for hundreds of years.
windmills don't
not without a gubment subsidy

Lots of things have worked. The catch for me is coal will eventually run out. Wind will always blow. Might as make the switch now so I can see it. lol

Interesting that behind all the rhetoric, money will talk. In this case the whole discussion about coal is a waste of breath. We already passed the point of no return in terms of cost. Coal is one of the more costly ways of generating electricity and there is no way anybody can turn that around.

Sustainable energy source will eventually replace coal. But the workers' future is a big issue, especially for China. Hopefully they can find a way to a happy ending.

I think its going to get a lot rougher before it gets easier.
I do agree let's hope for a happy ending.

For sure. I can't even imagine how they are gonna do it, just by thinking about the amount of workers losing their jobs because of the convention is shocking.

Things like this show us that there's no way to prevent the of progress sustainable energy.
