Can someone please explain this to me? BTC > Alt and never USD > Alt?

in altcoins •  7 years ago

So I am very new to trading and investing. I have not even really started yet...that is how new. This blog is to chronicle my journey.

I have been reading that you should NEVER buy altcoins with usd and to ONLY buy btc then convert to alt. People are saying they are losing money when going USD > Alt.

Can someone please explain to an idiot? Thanks!

I'm not sure this is entirely accurate.

Depending on the Alt I would rather buy it directly to avoid the current fees of BTC. For example i would trade fiat > LTC over fiat > BTC > LTC

You'll find if you're interested in more obscure Alts your only option is to buy them with BTC.

That makes no sense imho. But you should always value your ALTs in BTC too, not fiat only. Like @cryptovestor suggests here: https://steemit.com/cryptocurrency/@cryptovestor/the-1-mistake-beginners-make-investing-in-crypto
