The second account of creation which can be found in Genesis chapter 2 does not contradict chapter 1:1 - 2:3. It explains in greater details the creation of man and woman, their environment, and the result of their sin and rebellion against God.

Chapter 2 of the book of Genesis gives details in a tropical fashion, whereas chapter 1 gives the chronological details or the specific order in which things occurred.
