The vehicle represents a hybrid of a tram, bus and unmanned vehicle

Chinese transport company CRRC showed the world's first unmanned tram, which can travel around the city on virtual rails. The train is fully powered by electric traction and is capable of carrying up to 300 passengers. The development is designed, first of all, for small cities, where the laying of rails is difficult.

Unlike a classic tram, metal rails are not required for this train. Instead, the composition is moved along the previously designated virtual paths, which are recognized by means of special sensors. A standard train of 30 meters in length has three cars and is designed for 300 passengers. If necessary, additional wagons can be added to the train. The maximum speed of such a tram, which can travel up to 40 km on one charge, does not exceed 70 km / h.

It is expected that next year the first public route of such a tram will be laid through the city center of Zhuzhou. The total length of virtual paths is 6.5 km.
