TURTLES IN MY BACKYARD #AMAZINGNATURE

in amazingnature •  5 years ago

While traveling in the state of Florida, USA, we rented a place in Fort Myers that was way more than we expected.
This tiny home has provided us with not only a great living space, but also an abundance of wildlife to observe and appreciate.
Just check out my new friends who come every morning to greet us in our backyard, which includes the lake that these wonderful creatures live.

They look pre-historic to me...

When observed closely, you can see they have two different eyelids, I think one is for diving, the other eyelid seems to clear their vision for above water. It's cool to watch.

😁😊👍

That is a soft shell turtle and they have the ability to bite your finger off.

Beautiful, weather has been awesome here.

ooppss really? I was naming them and calling them, are they really that dangerous?

SHEET

🤣🤣

You should be fine but yes dont put your hands near there mouth. They love chicken scraps.

What an odd looking critter, the eyes and the snout, they just look otherworldly to me. Alligator eyes and a boars nose, I can see where they might be a tad bit more dangerous than a box turtle.

I wonder, if you lost a finger would it be cheaper to get your nails done. I would expect you would get a 10% discount.
