ANACONDA (Eunectes murinus)

The green or common anaconda (Eunectes murinus) is a species of constricting snake of the boas family (Boidae). It is endemic to the rivers of the South American tropics. Of all the snakes this is the largest; it rivals the reticulated python (Malayopython reticulatus) for the title of the world's largest snake, which is usually longer but less voluminous. Cases of attacked adult humans are known, although no snake (Malayopython reticulatus as an exception) tends to attack a human being, except in self-defence (when a human is attacking or scaring it), as these are not part of its food chain.
