My luck is so bad that I ended getting sick during holidays (again!), then there was a huge fight at home that further soured my mood– however! Not everything is bad news.
After a major disappointment with the sudden cancellation of the order made in May/June, I decided to take the reins and made my own purchase through Amazon around early November. “Go big or go home”, thus I decided to go big and purchase enough art materials to last for a while.
As I don’t own a credit card, I had a hard time and hit a wall after pressing the purchase bottom. Why is that? Because even if you purchase gift-cards, Amazon still ask for your credit card info.
Just one question: *why?*
The whole point for most people that chooses the gift-card option, is so they don’t have to provide the credit card information! “Why are you asking for unnecessary info? The money is coming from the gift-card, either way”, I thought as I despaired.
Fortunately, my mom had no qualms to let me borrow her credit card and that’s how I got over that particular hindrance. To avoid overpriced shipping costs, the items were shipped to a family’s friend that lives in Miami and from there, who would then ship them to my country once the order arrived.
However-
I hit another wall just because I wished to save a few coins. As I selected the free shipping option, my order was split in half; eleven items were shipped in a single box, while two were shipped separately. From then on, I could just sit and wait.
Delivery had me very anxious. Even so, I dared to be hopeful after the first package arrived on time to the location in Miami.
I. Was. A. Fool
The second package got delayed. Not by days, but weeks! Apparently, the order was shipped from Japan, of all places, so I guess the package was retained.
I checked every day my Order Status, stumbling with an ‘On the way, but running late’ every-single-time. I still waited.
Then, unexpectedly, my Mom told me her friend had shipped my package and I’d be arriving by Dec 20. I was worried, because I thought ‘shit, the other part of my order hasn’t arrived to his house yet!’
The motive behind my concern, is the unknown amount my country charge for orders that go above the $100. My order’s total was near the $300, hence I wanted to send everything in one go to avoid paying the feed twice.
In the end, my fears were unwarranted and I only had to pay a $20 fee. And what’s better! ALL of the purchased items were there!
The funny part is that, up to this day, the second half of my order still appears as ‘On the way, but running late.’ Way to scare customers unnecessarily, Amazon.
Either way, I finally got the art supplies I longed for (and a LED pad, to boot!) so I won’t have to rely only on digital art anymore.
I generally hate Amazon 🤣
It’s probably not much consolation but you weren’t the only one stuck over the holiday period, from skimming my feed and occasionally the comment sections seems like there were a few people afflicted. Hope you’re feeling at last slightly better now that you got this stash to play with, glad everything got there safely and didn’t cost an arm and a leg 😆

It cant be helped, I prefer Amazon over sites like Alibaba and Wish any day 😅
I have yet to start playing with these (at the time being I'm studying how to use the watercolor brushes etc), but I'm sure I'll habe fun.
