Oh, I realize things have improved on the surface, but just underneath, all the segregation, discrimination, and treatment still simmers. It is under control but not cured. I see it ever time an unarmed black teenager gets shot in the back multiple times, I see it when black members of your country blame every single political issue as being driven by race. I see it when a cell phone captures a young black kid being brutally beaten and nobody would believe it happened if it weren't on video. America has made tremendous progress in terms of equal rights, laws forbidding discrimination, etc. What needs to go away is the mindset that requires those laws in the first place. You can force a society to treat people with respect and dignity, but you can't force people to respect and dignify others based on race The mind still thinks the same way, regardless of equal rights legislation.

Yeah, racism will not go away until races go away, and that isn't happening any time soon.
Racism is part of human nature, otherwise it wouldn't have manifested in the first place.
American society discourages racism as much as any, but any level of social pressure will not discourage ALL instances.
