Joe Tex joined the Nation of Islam around 1967. In 1971, he began touring the country, not to sing” I gotcha” his mega hit about Elijah Muhammad, but to warn the black world about the coming of AIDS as a biological weapon to eliminate us all.
I brought Joe to my hometown of Chester, PA (and Farrakhan too on a separate occasion) and Joe’s warnings were powerful.
The white man, he said had concocted a disease transmitted by sex that would cause people to wither away to nothingness. Their skin color would change. He said it began in California and first spread among Hollywood stars and athletes.
By then Joe was minister Yusef Hazziez. He and I would also talk for hours when he visited Books& things in NYC where I worked when I was a student minister.
After the messenger died Joe seemed to lose his way. But when Wallace D Muhammad tried to get us to subordinate ourselves to America, Joe put out “I ain’t gone bump no more with that big fat woman”.
In 1982 Joe was found submerged in a swimming pool. Then, a few days later he had a heart attack. How did Joe get to the bottom of his pool? Why did the hospital release him so soon? And who gave him his heart attack? Was he given a delayed reaction dose in the hospital or did some spy group hit him with an electrical heart stopper long distance?
The jinns who created AIDS would never forgive the man who almost disrupted their final solution. Joe insisted that Elijah Muhammad told him about the AIDS plot, and I believe him.
Remember Joe Tex in your prayers, he was a beautiful brother, a giant of a minister and man.
