Introduction to myself

Dr. Amjad Ali Bhatti is a distinguished author, scholar, critic and translator who has made pronounced contribution to the corpus of Punjabi, Urdu and English literature. He stands prominent among his peers by virtue of extensive research and literary expositions published in prestigious journals at home and abroad. He is a versatile and prolific writer whose more than 103 publications (49 books and 54 research papers/articles/essays) cover a wide range of creative writings, literary criticism and translations from English, Gurmukhi & Hindi to Urdu & Punjabi and vice versa. His knowledge of foreign languages/scripts, especially Gurmukhi and Devnagri has enriched his research and broadened the scope of his writings. Humanism, Human Rights and Punjabi Literature are his forte, especially the Sufi literature and its message of world peace and interfaith harmony which finds a powerful manifestation in his work.
Dr. Bhatti is an avid writer who has delved deep into fields of research, criticism and translation. He has been actively engaged in a mega research project titled “NUST Companion to Punjabi Literature” which is an Encyclopedia of Punjabi literature and Culture produced in the sub-continent and around the world/overseas.
Dr. Amjad Ali Bhatti has earned national and international awards for his books; worth-mentioning amongst them are: Mohammad Hasan Askari Award (2015) by Pakistan Academy of Letters (for Punjab Lok Reet), Masood Khaddarposh Award (2002) (for Jhareetan Tay Naundhran (Research Articles), Ghulam Haideri Award (Rozan) (2008) (for Punjabi Shairi Tay Insan Dosti(Research Book) and Farooghe Adab Award (2004) (for Akhar Akhar Moti (Short Stories) etc.
He has also made valuable contribution being a member of Higher Education Commission’s Curriculum Development Committee for preparation of curriculum of B.S. (Punjabi), MS (Punjabi) and Ph.D (Punjabi). His books are also included in the syllabuses of many universities besides his research articles. His writings are frequently cited in the research work being done in the universities all over the world. He has supervised many PhD and MPhil dissertations.
He has served a number of academic departments like International Islamic University, Islamabad, Allama Iqbal Open University, Islamabad, University of Gujrat and National University of Sciences & Technology, Islamabad with distinctions.
