Why Buy Winchester 7.62x51 Ammo?

Since 1886, the Winchester Repeating Arms Company has been at the forefront of innovation for firearms and ammunition technology.

It should be noted that 7.62x51 mm NATO and 308 Winchester are two separate cartridges. Generally, 308 Winchester is loaded to higher pressures than 7.62x51. You can safely fire 7.62x51 from a 308 Win rifle but not the other way around.

As such, Winchester has produced two specific lines of ammo for the 7.62x51 cartridge, the 147 gr and the Winchester 7.62x51 m80 149 gr fmj load.

The 147 grain load is the traditional bullet weight for standard 7.62x51mm NATO rounds, designated M80. However, Winchester M80 7.62x51 increases the bullet weight slightly to 149 grains. This is as close to real NATO ammo as you’ll likely find on the open market next to surplus ammo.
