The amphitheatre in Salona, Croatia, is steeped in a history both awe-inspiring and somber. This colossal structure once stood witness to the brutality of the Roman Empire, where early Christians faced persecution under the rule of the emperor. The very stones that make up its grandeur hold stories of sacrifice and resilience.

Visiting the amphitheatre with a group from the Hostel in Split was a poignant experience. Walking in the footsteps of those who suffered, we could almost hear the echoes of the past reverberating within the arena. The air seemed charged with the memory of those who stood firm in their beliefs even in the face of adversity.

As I looked around at my companions, I couldn't help but feel a profound sense of gratitude for the freedoms we now enjoy. The journey through history brought us closer as we absorbed the weight of the events that transpired in this very place.

The amphitheatre, once a site of persecution, now serves as a reminder of the strength of the human spirit and the importance of preserving the memory of those who came before us. Our visit there became not just a sightseeing excursion, but a reflective journey that connected us to a past marked by both darkness and the unwavering light of faith.
