I went to visit a dear friend to meet her new puppy named Hugs. Hugs is a German Shepard so I wanted to get to know him while he is still little, if you know what I mean. I love dogs, but I’m also a little bit scared of the big ones. Hugs and I are friends for life now. Being with a dog, cuddling and stroking it, makes me feel really happy. It instantly releases happiness hormone!
It reminded me of a conversation I was having yesterday evening at the party of a friend who turned fifty-three. We were discussing alcohol. Most of our children are now over eighteen and therefore allowed to drink. Youngsters nowadays ‘drink in’ at home first before going out, so they can get drunk for less money. I said I disliked that very much and wouldn't facilitate it. I was the only one in the room of this opinion.
A young woman (in her twenties, student) changed the subject to drugs and told us that she once tried ecstasy and that this releases the hormone oxytocin known as ‘love hormone’ or ‘cuddle hormone’ which makes everyone very friendly and loving and cuddly. She felt parties where everyone takes ecstasy are much more fun than parties where everyone is drunk.
I say, if you want oxytocin, just stroke and cuddle another being, with or without a fur.
So cute

Really nice post! I agree that people shouldn't depend on chemicals such as drugs or alcohol for happiness! There is a price to pay for fake happiness. It seems that Hugs also likes you a lot! You ought not be afraid of big dogs any more.
