HUNGER AND POLITICAL

Last weekend more than 100,000 Venezuelans cross the border with Colombia to buy food and medicines in view of the huge shortages and economic crisis in the country.

()

It is the second straight weekend in which open the border temporarily, after that last year the President of Venezuela, Nicolas Maduro demanded its closure.

()

During these two days thousands of Venezuelans crossed on foot, while most of them chanted slogans against the government civilly "and will fall, this government will fall."

()

This event was seen by those present as a unique opportunity to buy and take home the necessities that are not in the country.

In Venezuela the peoples expect daily long queue to buy some product , both as a staple food.

()

However, in many cases they are waiting in endless queues, accompanied by insecurity and violent attacks, and does not guarantee the purchase.

It is for this reason that last weekend many citizens preferred to travel, even for more than 10 hours from various parts of the nation, acrossing the border and shop in the neighboring country.

From toilet paper, through cornmeal, oil, all kinds of medicines and even tools to perform a caesarean, are some of the products that were passing through the border.

()

Children of all ages, teenagers and even adults older crossed in the search for daily bread.

()

For his part, Maduro has decided to extend for 60 days the state of emergency declared on January 14, while blaming the opposition and the United States to have you an economic war on his government.
