Anarchy and Natural Law

Originally this was going to be a comment I wanted to add to @fapfap's post ANARCHISM!? What? but grew into something all its own:

The purest example of anarchy is the Henry Thoreau in Walden Pond, an individual removed from anything that resembles an organized society... It is the concept that I have no power to tell you what to do, as you have no authority to tell me what to do. For this to work, individuals must be taught/given an understanding of Natural Law, as even though one may free himself from the laws of man, God's law of Cause and Effect cannot be avoided.

Just as mortal man can not escape the laws of physics or chemistry, one must understand that there is a basic 'good and bad' written into our code of existence... Especially when an individual is to exist within a society. Without basic morality the world decends into decay as evidenced by the fall of Rome. If you kill, if you steal, if you have indiscrimitate sex with strangers or use powerful man-made substances, there will be consequences pure and simple. For anarchy to work we need to learn and teach Why and individual should/shouldn't do certain things rather than simply say "Thou Shalt Not..."

The Founding Fathers of the USA believed in many anarchistic ideals, and tried to create the smallest governing system they could imagine to grant the most individual freedom possible, knowing that such a system would only work with a society that is self-governed by the dictates of morality.

I would love to expand this idea further but time constaints mean I have to cut this short, so I will close by simply saying that Stephan Molyneux offers some great philosophical thoughts on the subject for anyone interested enough to explore.... However, be warned that before you search his youtube podcasts be prepared to set aside a good chunk of time, he can talk for hours about a single thought
