Take two groups that hate each other to the point of violence and murder. For
this example, I will use Crips and Bloods, since that is something that both
real and also won't offend anyone too much.
- make a list of 1000 Crips
- make a list of 1000 Bloods
- Get them all a paper wallet with a private key
- Randomly pair one Crip with one Blood and let them both know which
individual on the other side they have been paired with. - gift $1000 to each pair of individuals by sending it to a 2 of 2 multisig
with a 5 year time lock
Effects:
- Individuals from each side are incentivized to talk and agree at the very
least, how to split the money. - Each gang is incentivized to keep members of the other gang alive and
on good terms in order to preserve the value that they will share.
This example has cost you $1 million dollars, but it can reasonably scale to
any size including nations at war.
Ending war, or more accurately stated, ending conflict, isn't possible. We are just a couple dogs fighting over a ball, a bone, or a bitch. We are as easily motivated to do violence to protect our children as a grizzly bear is to protect hers, regardless of the validity of the threat. We are just animals, nothing more and nothing less. Smart ones mind you. And opposable thumbs aren't bad. But animals just the same.
