The modern City,
A wholly beneficial societal model to society today, falls short in a variety of aspects.
Infrastructure is often crumbing or dated, large parts of the city are dangerous, strange, often onerous taxes and zoning make business untenable for many and even more issues create an unappealing locale for those who have capital to invest.
These issues raised are further compounded by the many chains of bureaucracy that are known as the local City government.
These bureaucrats have zero profit motive, they are paid handsomely regardless of their performance; the most that could happen is they are replaced by those who promise more, but usually fail to deliver.
These issues are not existent in the private City model.
A private City could easily have every business agreed to operate in their terms of service, in a clear and concise contract, all matters can and would be handled by board members, just as any viable business does today.
Non performing City employees would be ejected from their positions and the best in their class would be attracted to a position that rewards performers.
Just like any for profit business.
Crime could be handled by private security contractors, who again, would have the profit motive to contend with.
This dynamic coupled with the fact that there would be no unions to protect contractors who exceed their force continuum training would ensure performance standards are met, lest the contractors breach their contract.
Again, this ensures maximum efficiency via market dynamics.
Choosing to live in a environment should be equal to any contacted service a person uses, being able to choose ensures that the best one can afford is received.
There are a variety of human behaviors that pose challenging to private or public cities and the mentioned functions are by no means meant to be considered an extensive list.
However, as anyone who understands market dynamics knows, innovation only thrives where there is a reward for it.
That's certain to flourish in the private City.
