From my experience with life, and the troubles and challenges that come with it, is that for the most part, you’re on your own. Whether you struggle with physical or mental illness or you tend to find life a bit overwhelming at times, you’re on your own. Yeah, you’ll have friends and family behind you to give you support, but everything you do is up to you. No one is going to spoon feed you. This was something I found difficult to take account of. I found myself always waiting for an opportunity to arise. And when one did, I didn’t know if it was a good opportunity to grasp so it slipped away, and I was left standing with my dick in my hand looking like a cunt.
The worst part about it, I think, is that those opportunities never seem to come back. And that’s another thing you can only learn from experience. To let go. To let go of missed opportunities and focus on the next one. I suppose this all ties into some universal themes of not dwelling on the past and to ‘chase your dreams’, for lack of a cringier phrase. But when we are told those things by our parents, teachers or mentors, we usually take it for its face value and we don’t really take time to think about how that relates to other aspects of life on a deeper level.
It’s like being told, as a kid, that you can anything you want in life, only to grow up and realise that the entire system we live in is designed to not let you do whatever you want. I believe that would be the definition of anarchy. And although I think anarchy will take over in the near future, it faces quite a lot of opposition from the dickheads that call themselves the government. To be clear, I support Anarcho-Capitalism. Which is the real libertarian political ideology. I find it quite odd that people all over the globe are very content to let some boneheads, control their world. You want to become self-sustaining? Sorry, you have to pay taxes on that. You’d swear we gave the government the right to rob us….Oh wait, that’s exactly what we fucking did. And we call ourselves the most intelligent species on the planet. If a rabbit (representing a government) tried to rob a lion (representing the general public) the lion would fuck that rabbit up. But us humans hear some cordial and amiable bullshit from some people that no more intelligent than us, and we automatically think they will uphold what they say. I guess no one in history has ever become corrupt when put in a position of power, right? When you put decent people in a position where bad things could happen, bad things will happen.
There’s another thing that’s been pissing me off lately. That is the pathetic and negative outlook that social media glorifies. You know what I’m talking about, the whole ‘I want to die’ meme on Facebook and Instagram. ‘Oh really you want to die?’ ‘Go ahead then, fucking off yourself and stop complaining. You’d be doing us all a favour’. ‘Oh look another meme about suicide, I better tag all my friends in it so they know I’m suicidal’. For some fucked up reason literally everyone on Facebook is glorifying suicide and negativity. And don’t misjudge me here, I understand where it is coming from, I am part of that generation, but it’s this type of thing that actually leads to depression. It’s pathetic really, everyone complaining and pretending to be something they’re not just so that they feel accepted by some shitty online community. Log off Facebook and what happens? You’re back to the real world, so you have two choices, get your shit together or retreat back to Zuckerschmuck’s fantasy world. And the saddest part is that most people will take the path of least resistance, and will choose instant validation over actual personal growth.
People will do anything to help others, but when the idea of helping themselves comes into their minds, if it even does, they run from it like they would run from a wild dog with mouth rabies. It’s as if they think that if they help others then others will help them back, but they seem to forget that one actually gives a shit about them. As soon as you step outside the door of your house, literally no one cares about you. Am I cynical? No, I’m realistic, and if you’re reading this thinking that I’m wrong then you’re exactly the type of person I’m talking about. Look, all this is just my outlook, you can believe it or not believe it, like it or not like it. Guess what? It doesn’t bother me in the slightest. I’m still going to live my life and do the things I want to do (within the strains of society).
